SELECT THE RIGHT COLOR AND PAINT TYPE FOR YOUR PROJECT

When painting ACRE products, it’s critical to choose the right color and paint type for ACRE to perform as expected and to avoid the effects of excessive expansion and contraction, especially with outdoor applications. ACRE does not absorb paints as typical wood products do.

  • Your paint/stain choice must be water-based.
  • Your chosen paint/stain color must have a Light Reflective Value (LRV) of 55 or greater. For any color with an LRV below 55 or if you are not sure, contact us for help and approval for use.
  • Your paint/stain type and color must be an approved coating and color found on our website.
  • If opting for a custom color, choose from our Signature 897 Collection of colors that have been approved when made with the 897 Light Reflective Pigments AND when special ordered. Go to our Custom Colors Page for more information.

PRO TIP

For the best results, we recommend applying paint, stain or clear coats on a smooth flat surface. ACRE products may be finished after installation, however the viscosity of the coating could result in an uneven appearance if not monitored closely.

ACRE products generally will not gray like natural woods in exterior applications. However, color may fade over time with increased UV exposure, therefore a UV-resistant stain or paint can help resist fading and make for easier cleaning and care.
